About Local Lodge 1782

Local 1782, also known as the Sierra Pacific Air Transport Local Lodge 1782, is located on the first floor of Union Hall. The building is a tan, two story stucco called "Air Transport Employees Local Lodge 1781," shown above.

Local 1782 is the first IAM local chartered solely for public contact employees. Our Local includes customer service and support staff of United Airlines in SFO, SJC, OAK, RNO, and SMF; Southwest Airlines in OAK, SJC, and SMF, and BritishAirways in SFO.

Within the IAM, Local 1782 has the distinction of winning five out of six awards in 2006, each in First Place. The awards honored Local1782.Org, our Members only newsletter, The Fog Report, and our special feature series, Sister McBitter. Each were judged against hundreds of other contenders by a panel of independent judges including those from the design and communication world.

At the age of 60, our sister lodge, Local 1781, is one of the oldest Local Lodges. Local 1781 shares the same physical location as 1782, represents ground service workers, boasts an award winning newsletter, and shares its considerable expertise and experience with Local 1782.

About the IAM

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) is a multinational multi-employer labor organization which provides structure and resources to its constituents.

Headquarters, known as the Grand Lodge, are located in Upper Marlboro, near Baltimore, Maryland.

District Lodge 141 represents air transport workers, particularly in the area of labor contracts.

Local Lodges, including Local1782, insure the proper execution of those contracts, and, represent the individual needs of workers.
